Jubilee nails | NOTD

The Queen celebrated her diamond jubilee yesterday, 60 years on the throne. It's a proud year for Britain, with the diamond jubilee and the Olympics, and i was feeling quite patriotic last night, so i decided to paint my nails to match. Now technically speaking, i'm crap at nail art. I tried doing little Christmas trees and Santa at Christmas but i had no such luck. So i was very pleased but surprised with myself last night when i (sort of) successfully did little union jacks on my nails. It's actually fairly simple, and seeing i'm very cack-handed and have quite shaky hands, i think they turned out pretty well!

This is what you will need:

  • Barry M base coat, top coat and nail hardener
  • Barry M cyan blue
  • White and red nail art pens

The first step is applying the base coat to protect your nails. You can obviously use any base coat, blue white or red, but these are just what i have. Wait for the base coat to dry before applying the blue

Although this is quite an opaque nail polish, you may need to apply two coats to make it completely opaque. Wait for the polish to dry before adding the second coat. You will then need your white nail art pen.

(Excuse the messy edges and oily cuticles:/)
Using the white nail art pen, draw onto your nails a white cross, and then a kiss shape so it looks like this ^

Then the tricky bit.. grab your red nail art pen and get the nib ready. My nail art pens take quite a while to dry, make sure yours are completely dry otherwise the white will smudge and the red and white will mix together.

Okay, so i know they're a bit messy, but i'm no professional. But here's the finished result!
I'm pleased with my creativeness although i'm probably not the only girl in the country to do jubilee nails, but oh well, i likes them. Again, please excuse the smudginess and messy edges, this is hardcore nail art to me.

I hope you all had a great jubilee weekend and celebrated in style, and have a good, extra long weekend!
